WIMBLEDON ANCIENT GOLF SOCIETY
MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
HELD ON 29th SEPTEMBER 2016
AT MALDEN GOLF CLUB
Attendees: Beament (MB), Latham (RL), McGuffie (GM), Hill (BH), Stembridge (JS), Trinick (RT), Chris Bunning (CB), Wells, Dearden, Robinson, James, Quilter, McCarthy, Heaney, Shaw, Berring P, Berring F, Middleton D, Adams, Lee.
Shutes, Dunsire, Burn and Thomas
1. Fixtures (RL)
Much discussion with brief for RL including starting season earlier at West Byfleet, switch Robinson Ryder to earlier in the year at Wimbledon Common and push Dearden Decanter back to summer date. Also extend season with Pine Ridge a couple of weeks later in November. Steve Shaw proposed a switch of his event to Devils Dyke. Mike Lee highlighted the majority of Friday events conflict with his work schedule. Other possible options could be a day event at Burhill in the summer, possibly 2 x 18 hole rounds on the Old and New courses.
25th Anniversary Tour.
RL outlined the core schedule and option to extend by 1 day, also some talk of a fishing cruise.
2. Finance (CB)
CB gave an overview of the rude health of WAGS finances #YMISWW (Your Money Is Safe With WAGS)
3. Merchandise (RT)
RT provided an update highlighting that he still has various excess stock left over from previous seasons; it is intended to produce a new bit of clobber for 2017.
4. Comms and Handicaps (GM)
GM advised that the ‘new’ handicap system was now in its 4th year and whilst it was agreed the system is working well he will be reviewing past results to identify potential end of season handicap adjustments.
re. Comms, attendees recognised the great/entertaining job that GM was doing, however GM did mention that Mrs McG was not quite so enthralled!
5. Website (JS)
JS talked through potential developments. Mike Lee suggested including a photo repository, possibly using Drop Box.
6. Membership (RH)
BH provided a brief summary that over 45 players had played at least once in the last year at ‘home’ events..
7. Committee Elections
The following Committee Members were unanimously re-elected for a further two year term:
- Mike Beament – Chairman
- Anthony Shutes – Secretary
- Chris Bunning – Treasurer
- Richard Latham – Fixtures
- Gerry McGuffie – Communications and Handicaps
- Richard Trinick – Merchandise
- Bob Hill – Membership
